On January 13th, Hilti hosted 13 SCM students at its regional distribution center in Vienna. Hilti was founded in Liechtenstein and is a family-owned company that develops, manufactures, and markets products for the construction, building, maintenance, energy and manufacturing industries, mainly to professional end-users.

The students were welcomed by Carmen Theuns who has also graduated from the SCM Master at WU. The presentations started with Anna Hobisch, Head of Warehouse RDC Vienna, giving an introduction about the company, their global logistics operations as well as some facts about their regional and global network.

This presentation was followed by a tour through the warehouse, where Anna Hobisch showed us the warehouse operations and students were able to experience picking and packaging processes live. The tour continued through the tool service center (TSC), where Hilti manages to keep its impressive promises about repairing a tool within the same day as its arrival in the TSC. After a short break, the students had time to listen to the presentation about the start of SCM alumni Carmen Theuns at Hilti, while enjoying some snacks. Alina Arnezeder gave us some insights into HR at Hilti and the onboarding as well as the importance of people development in the company. The visit was rounded off by group case studies, in which the students successfully experienced how to deal with daily warehouse tasks as an inbound or outbound team lead.

The SCM Network would like to thank Hilti for hosting us and giving great insights into their daily business.
