#SCMgoes Hilti
On November 9th, Hilti hosted 12 SCM students at their regional distribution center in Vienna (RDCV) close. Hilti was founded in Liechtenstein and is a family-owned company which develops, manufactures, and markets products for the construction, building maintenance, energy and manufacturing industries, mainly to the professional end-user.
The students were welcomed by Carmen Theuns who has recently graduated from the SCM Master at WU. The presentations started with Richard Wagner, Head of the Logistics Europe Central East, giving an introduction about the company, their global logistics operations, some facts about their regional and global network and their talent recruiting strategies. Richard Wagner furthermore outlined that people development is a very important aspect at Hilti.
This presentation was followed by a tour through the tool service center (TSC) by Andreas Schweitzer, who is the head of the TSC. The TSC is located next to the distribution center in the same building. Hilti makes quite impressive promises to the customer when it comes to the duration of repairing a tool. Next, Anna Hobisch, Head of RDCV, showed us the warehouse and students were able to experience picking and packaging processes live. After that the students then had time to listen to the presentation about the start of SCM alumni Carmen Theuns and Sebastiaan Ottenheym at Hilti, while enjoying some fresh finger food. This site visit was then ended by a short Q&A session.
