On the 27th of October, 25 SCM students had the opportunity to visit the cargo-partner headquarters and newly built wooden-warehouse at Fischamend. Cargo-partner is a Full-Service Logistics Provider with a broad portfolio of services and major competences in air,- sea,- and road transport, warehousing as well as supply chain optimization and information technologies. With its 3,250 employees, the company operates in more than 40 different countries all over the world.

After a warm welcome with coffee and drinks, Martin Schenzel, Managing Director of cargo-partner Austria, introduced the company, their values and the corporate culture at cargo-partner to the students in an interesting speech. Additionally, students were given a valuable insight into the logistics organisations Green Logistics Operations and latest projects on measuring and reducing CO2-emissons for their clients by Claudia Elvers, Head of Corporate Quality Management. Directly afterwards, people were able to dive into the typical day-to-day business at cargo-partner’s sites, as Krisztián Abzalov and Christoph Aretz gave a tour through the impressive and unique warehouse at Fischamend, one of the first completely wooden logistics facilities in Austria.

Subsequently, Sandra Zechmeister, Khaliunaa Damdinbazar and Marcel Potvorszki, all Alumni’s of the Supply Chain Master program at WU that are now working with cargo-partner, talked about their career and how it is working in different departments of the company. The whole event was rounded up by a snacks buffet where it was possible for students to have an informal chat with people from different departments and ask questions about career prospects and other belongings.

The SCM Network would like to thank cargo-partner and especially Martin Schenzel, Bettina Mathis, Claudia Elvers, Krisztián Abzalov, Christoph Aretz as well as Sandra Zechmeister, Khaliunaa Damdinbazar and Marcel Potvorszki for this great event.
